The University of Indianapolis, popularly known as UIndy, is a private, comprehensive and diverse institution of higher education located on nearly 50 acres just minutes from downtown Indianapolis. UIndy offers 82 undergraduate programs and 27 master and doctoral programs.
IUPUI is a public institution located downtown and is ranked U.S. News and World Report’s 5th most up-and-coming national school to watch. IUPUI is the home of nationally ranked programs in nursing, public and environmental affairs, law, and health and a campus renowned for service learning and civic engagement.
Ivy Tech Community College is the state’s largest public postsecondary institution and the nation’s largest singly accredited statewide community college system, serving nearly 200,000 students annually.
K-12 Public Schools
Perry Township School District: The Metropolitan School District of Perry Township is composed of 11 elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools (Southport H.S. and Perry H.S.), an alternative education program (by school referral only), and RISE Learning Center.
Greenwood Community Schools: This district is composed of four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Greenwood Community Schools’ mission is to “improve our system of teaching and learning so that your student’s academic achievement increases.”
Beech Grove: This district is composed of three elementary , one intermediate, one middle school, and one high school dedicated to building excellence through programs that meet students’ needs.
Roncalli High School:This Catholic high school strongly emphasizes college preparatory subjects; however, a limited number of general and vocational classes are offered. Ability grouping is used in the areas of English, math, science, and social studies. An honors program is offered as well as nine College Board Advanced Placement Courses.
St. Jude Catholic School: St. Jude is a state accredited grade school — kindergarten through 8th grade. Students compete in debate and speech team competitions, math pentathlon, and extra fine arts programming. Sports programs include basketball, baseball, volleyball, wrestling, kickball, and track. Extra programs include before-school care, after-school care, and an extended care program for kindergarten students who must be at school all day.
Holy Name Catholic School: This school uses the Gospel message as lived by Christ as its model. They strive to enhance the growth of each student in all aspects of their lives to create lifelong learners committed to the Gospel and all of God’s creation.
Gray Road Christian School: Gray Road Christian offers pre-kindergarten through 8th grade education, capitalizing on individuality. The school has a history, an academically excellent Christian education, a quality faculty, a safe environment in modern facilities, computer technology, and extracurricular activities.
